There are a couple of things you can do to improve your dog's coat.

Firstly buy the best food you can afford. I recommend Hills Science Diet, Nutro or Royal Canin. All have the 1st ingredient as some form of meat and that is the closest to their preferred diet. Also supplement their food with real meat when you can.

Bathing your dog regularly will improve their coat too. They can pick up nasties on their fur like dirt which makes it look dull and dry. I also use a doggy condition from John Paul Pet as cleansing can sometimes take out the nutrients as with out hair.

Lastly, make sure you are giving your dog all the prevention against ticks and worms by using Frontline every month togeher with a heartworm tablet. The fur is always the first sign that there are problems in overall health of a dog.
