Should buns be made when your hair is wet or dry to hold the bun in best?

I have layered hair in the back and face framing layers up front on either side (so that the layers get progressively longer starting at my chin until my normal hair length). I need to put my hair in a bun tomorrow, so will it stay better if it's wet or dry?

a bit damp is best. for layers you will need gel or a head band and to keep it neat a bun-net.

Just a bit damp.

What I do is right after I wash my hair, I comb it out really well and towel dry it then put it in a bun. It lasts all night until I take it out in the morning.

Style your hair up this way while it's wet. Apply a leave in conditioner, then a dime size amount of shine serum. Brush it into the desired shape. The hassle free way of doing this is do it before you go to bed and tie a silk scarf around your hair. It'll keep it smooth and in place for the following day.

i have layered hair as well so i just put my hair into a bun immediatly after a shower, i use a sock though (to make everythign nice, neat and round) also so the layers don't show when it gets dry...

my hair tends to have cowlicks as well so. hope this helps
