I have curly dry hair, and I want it straight and shiny. . Does the Chi really work?

I've been researching flat irons, and am considering getting a Chi, but on a rating at http://www.folica.com the chi was rated 7th out of 10. I also used a friend's 1/2 inch Chi, which may have been too small for my hair, but either way, it looked very fried and bad. Is a Chi not the way to go? I guess I would just like to hear some other opinions before I order some $100+ straightener that may not even work. . thanks p.s. anyone tried the solia? is it any good

I like Paul Brown and T3 by Tourmaline they both work great. The one inch is the best for most hair length and is easy to handle. You need to take small thin sections and use a flat iron heat protector spray prior to ironing, I like "Ion" flat iron spray, you can get it at Sally's beauty supply, it also helps get the frizzies out but don't use too much or it will make your hair look and feel greasy.

yes it works. i have it..i have the large red velvet one. chi's are right now and have been the best straightener out there thats what my hair stylist told me...

I love my chi and my friends swear by it also. If you have curly hair, I would definitely go with a bigger one. I have tried many straightening irons, and the chi is the best by far. It is worth the investment!!

i don't know,but the easiest way for me is to relax it or go to the salon and tell the to wash and put rollers in your hair. It really works.

Well, in order for your hair to look better when it's straight, you may want to start off by using a conditioner for about 2 weeks that is specific for curly hair. Of Course Salon stuff works best, although it can really make a hole in your pocket. Then after you notice a texture diference, then you can start experimenting with starightend styles. The key to good looking styled hair, is good natural hair.

yes CHI's r the best. i hav 1 and i lov it. and use the chi iron guard then your hair won't look soo burnt.lol. and your hair won't go curly unless u get it wet.

I have straight hair and for the first 18 years of my life I tried to get it to curl or be wavy or something. I tried everything. Then my Dad sat me down with a mirror one day and said,

On the dry issue, in the 70's we would put mayonaise. egg yolks or olive oil on our hair, wrap our heads in saran wrap, leave it on for awhile, then wash it out. It was the best conditioner ever!

You are actually flattening your hair not straightening it if you use the Chi. I suggest maxiglide. It has over 100 pins and a steam burst! Plus it has temperature control. Im not trying to sound like an advertisement but I have a maxiglide at home. I have frizzy curly hair and I use the maxiglide to make my hair all straight as a toothpick.
