Is it bad to blow-dry hair when wet????????

a lot of people say this.. is it true? since hearing this i just shake out the water from my hair and not dry it.. not even with a towel... but i cant do this in winter..sooo.. i dont know..

You should gently towel dry your hair to release the excess water than blow dry on either cool, low or medium - high heat will damage your hair.

If you feel that your hair feels dryer than usual after blow drying you can buy a shampoo/conditioner or a styling product that helps protect hair from heat.

Keep in mind the cold winter weather will dry your hair out naturally (so def condition well when washing to help keep in moisture) but going out in the cold with a wet head will cause your hair to freeze which is even more damaging. Also if possible wash your hair every other day, Over washing your hair (washing hair every day) can wash out your natural oils which can also help protect your hair from the dryer as well as the cold winter weather.

I blow-dry my hair everyday, but I try to let it airdry for about 10 minutes so that it isn't totally soaked. I don't have any problems, so I think it is fine.

It's best to wait untill it's just damp, not dripping wet, try toweling your hair dry first!

you can blow dry it when it is wet, you should try thermasilk, its specifically for drying your hair, it helps it not get as damaged

i let my hair air dry as often as possible, but sometime you just have to blow dry it when you are running late.

i would say that it's bad to blow-dry your hair, but i always dry it with a towel and shake it! it works for me...

the whole point of a blow-dryer is to dry wet hair. if it's bad to use with wet hair...then we definitely have a faulty product.

try towel drying your hair so its nearly dry. comb your hair and use some sort of heat spray so your blow drying dont do any damage to your hair :)

Yes, everything is bad. We need to stop listening to people and make decisions for our selves. Do you need to blow dry your hair ? Then blow dry it. If you don't then don't.

i dont see how it would be bad because thats what a blowdrier is for but my hair stylist uses it on my hair and it looks alot better so i would think that its ok to use

Hmm...if you don't want to blow-dry it, you could roller set your hair %26amp;%26amp; go under a hooded dryer I suppose. It causes much less stress to your hair if that's what you're worried about.

There are some people who say that blowdrying your hair can damage it by drying it out too much, but mostly this would apply to people who also straighten their hair - hair straighteners get ridiculously hot!

If you are worried about it you could always get a heat protection spray, there are heaps of them around - they claim to protect your hair from heat damage caused by styling.

My friend who does hair told me that is not bad to blow dry your hair but to not over dry it. What it hard on your hair is using a brush on your hair when it is wet. With a brush you pull your hair, or when you pull on your hair when it is tangled. Gently comb your hair, blow dry it until it is almost dry and go from there. Also she said when you towel dry don't drap the water out. ( like pulling it out.)

heating your hair up can dry it out so use a protector.

usally i leave my hair to be about 70% dry before i blowdry it, that can keep it more healthy.

alos in alot of hairdryers now theres a way you can dry your hair with cold air.

Ummmm well.... *lol* Usually people blow dry their har to dry their wet hair, so that doesn't sound right to me? *ROFL*

But..... Blow drying IS bad for your hair... Especially if done regularly. I very rarely blow dry.. It's been YEARS..

Remember that you are using heat. However, if you can, towel dry it for a while and then finish it off with a hair dryer. The damage will be minimal. You can also try using an instant moisture spray. It's not a hairspray, just moisture. Spray it into your hair after towel drying and before blowdrying and your hair sill shine.
