or towel dry?
Is is best to blow dry african american hair?
Depends on the condition of your hair. Remember African American hair craves moisture and blow drying can dry your hair out. But usually you can do do both. First, towel dry your hair lightly to get the excess water out. Next, put some kind of moisturizer lotion and anti frizz serum on your hair before you blow dry to protect it from heat. Make sure the blow dryer is on a low setting, not high and about 2-3 inches from the hair. It is better to use a large toothed comb. Remember our hair is fragile and sensitive, so you can't do it everyday. (Invest in a bonnet cap hair dryer is great as well, Target has them for like 30 dollars.)

i dont think it makes any difference
Is is best to blow dry african american hair?
yeah, but make sure that you have some sort of product in your hair before you blow dry it. african american hair is naturally weaker than any other form of hair because of it's curliness so you have to preserve the hair strand with a heat protectant so that the heat from the blow dryer will not hurt the hair from the inside out

I've wondered this about white people's hair too.
I think it just depends on your hair texture. The moisture in it, etc. etc.
I know many girls of various race's that have to blow dry their hair or it is completely unmanigable and stay's wet for like 8 hrs. And on the other hand, I know gals who can't blow dry because if frizzes them up and causes massive breaks and split ends.
So, good luck. I'm curious too.

Actually applying heat to african-american (Black) hair or any hair type is essentially BAD for the hair because it weakens it. It's best to let the hair air dry, but if you need to blow dry it, don't do it so often. Make sure to put in moisturizer to preserve the oil within the hair before you begin so it doesn't damage too easily .

It is ok to blow dry african american hair, but not everyday. Our hair is naturally dry and weak, and it needs a lot of moisture and protection. I would make sure to put heat protector before blow drying and putting heat on it! I will blow dry my hair, but if I have time i will let it partially air dry, that way if I do blow dry, its not on my hair as long. I would also recommend blow drying on a lower setting! It make take longer, but it is far less heat directly on the hair. Ive noticed a difference in my hair since letting it partially air dry. My ends and hair arent as dry as before!
